LANDOVER, Md. — The Washington Commanders scored 27 unanswered points to overcome a slow start and beat the Philadelphia Eagles 27-10 on Sunday night at Northwest Stadium, NBC Sports and Yahoo Sports reported.
Jayden Daniels threw for 217 yards and a touchdown, securing his first victory since October 2025, according to NBC Sports. The outcome lifted Washington to 2-4-1 on the season and handed Philadelphia its sixth consecutive loss, sending the Eagles to 2-6.
Philadelphia jumped out to an early 10-0 advantage during the opening quarter. A fumble by Washington tight end Chig Okonkwo set up a three-yard rushing touchdown by Saquon Barkley, Yahoo Sports reported. However, the Eagles failed to score another point for the rest of the game.
Washington quickly responded as kicker Drew Stevens connected on a 56-yard field goal in the first quarter, NBC Sports noted. In the second quarter, Daniels connected with receiver Stefon Diggs on an eight-yard touchdown pass to tie the score at 10-10. Stevens then added a 39-yard field goal before the break to give Washington a 13-10 halftime advantage.
Defensive front rattles Philadelphia
Washington’s defense dominated the line of scrimmage against an Eagles offensive line missing retired tackle Lane Johnson and battling multiple injuries, Yahoo Sports noted. Starting quarterback Tanner McKee, filling in for the sidelined Jalen Hurts, came under relentless pressure throughout the game. The Commanders recorded four sacks and nine quarterback hits on McKee, according to NBC Sports.
Barkley also found little room to maneuver, finishing with just 30 yards on 13 rushing attempts, NBC Sports reported.
The Eagles had an opportunity to pull within three points early in the fourth quarter when kicker Jake Elliott converted a 36-yard field goal. However, an illegal formation penalty on offensive tackle Jordan Mailata wiped out the score, Yahoo Sports reported. Given a second attempt from 41 yards, Elliott’s kick struck the left upright and bounced away no good.
Washington capitalized on the momentum shift. Stevens made his fourth field goal of the night, a 42-yarder that followed an earlier 25-yard kick in the third quarter, extending the Commanders’ margin to 19-10.
Commanders seal win in final minutes
Desperate to rally on fourth-and-25, McKee attempted a deep pass that was intercepted by cornerback Rasul Douglas, Yahoo Sports reported. Shortly after the turnover, Washington running back Rachaad White punched in a touchdown to put the contest out of reach.
Daniels completed 16 of 29 passes without throwing an interception, while Treylon Burks paced Washington’s receiving corps with three catches for 81 yards, according to NBC Sports.
The loss marks Philadelphia’s first six-game skid since 2012, as well as its first 2-6 start since 1999, NBC Sports reported. Both previous instances occurred during former head coach Andy Reid’s tenure in Philadelphia.
The Commanders will remain at home in Week 9 to take on the 4-4 Los Angeles Rams, while the Eagles return home to face the first-place New York Giants, who sit at 4-2-1.
