INGLEWOOD, Calif. — Rapper Jay-Z brought his 14-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, to the stage on Friday night to accompany him on keyboard during the opening performance of a two-night engagement at SoFi Stadium.

The Oct. 23 show formed part of the musician’s “JAY-Z30” celebration, honoring the 30th anniversary of his debut album, “Reasonable Doubt,” according to Billboard. The 56-year-old hip-hop icon delivered a 33-song set that included multiple surprise stage guests and a high-profile audience that featured an off-stage reunion of Destiny’s Child.

Blue Ivy takes the keys

Blue Ivy joined her father to play the keys during two tracks: “The Story of O.J.” from his 2017 album “4:44” and “Dead Presidents” from his 1996 debut, Billboard reported. Videos shared across social media showed the teenager seated at the keyboard wearing Timberland boots and an eye-catching jacket, which The Shade Room described as a Rocawear jacket and The Mirror US identified as a red, blue and white leather piece.

After finishing her instrumental performance, Blue Ivy embraced her father, blew kisses to the audience, and flashed Jay-Z’s signature diamond hand sign representing Roc-A-Fella Records before exiting the stage, according to The Mirror US. Spectators online quickly drew comparisons between her appearance and that of her mother, Beyoncé, noting similar facial expressions and mannerisms as concert clips circulated widely on Saturday.

Destiny’s Child reunion and guest appearances

Blue Ivy was not the only member of the Carter family in attendance. Beyoncé, who has been married to Jay-Z for 18 years and shares three children with him, watched the performance from a stadium suite alongside former Destiny’s Child group members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, The Mirror US reported. The three singers, who last performed together in July 2025 during Beyoncé’s tour stop in Las Vegas, were seen dancing to the music throughout the night.

Singer Rihanna was also seen enjoying the concert from the crowd, dancing to Jay-Z’s catalog of hits and stopping to take pictures with Anthony Anderson and Rocsi Diaz, The Shade Room reported. Other notable figures spotted in the audience included Tia Mowry, G-Eazy and Omari Hardwick, according to Billboard.

Jay-Z also invited several fellow musicians to the stage throughout the night. Houston rapper Scarface joined him to perform “This Can’t Be Life” and the Geto Boys classic “Mind Playing Tricks on Me,” Billboard reported. The concert concluded with a performance of “God Did,” bringing both John Legend and DJ Khaled onto the stage. Jay-Z also paid tribute to late Los Angeles rapper Nipsey Hussle during the show, HotNewHipHop reported.

What comes next

The Los Angeles concerts follow a trio of July shows at Yankee Stadium in New York, as well as European tour dates in London and Paris. Jay-Z was scheduled to return to SoFi Stadium on Saturday night for the second show of the weekend run.

Meanwhile, unanswered questions linger regarding recent music industry rumors suggesting Jay-Z could headline the Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show, which is slated to take place at SoFi Stadium next year. As of Saturday, that speculation remains officially unconfirmed, according to Billboard.
