PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Eagles will be without their top two wide receivers, DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks, when they face the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night, according to the team’s official injury report released Saturday.
Smith has been ruled out because of an ongoing hamstring injury, while Wicks will miss the divisional contest due to an ankle issue. The absences leave quarterback Tanner McKee without his most productive perimeter targets as Philadelphia attempts to halt a four-game losing streak.
Offense Navigates Growing Injury List
Smith had missed two contests earlier in the season before returning last week against the Carolina Panthers, where he recorded seven receptions for 75 yards and a touchdown. The wideout did not practice during the week leading up to Monday’s matchup, ESPN reported. Smith leads Philadelphia with 26 receptions for 310 yards and two touchdowns this season.
Wicks, who has 19 catches for 284 yards and a score, will miss his first game since joining the Eagles. With both starters sidelined, Philadelphia’s available wide receivers on the active roster include rookie Makai Lemon, Darius Cooper, Britain Covey, Elijah Moore, and Marquise Brown. Cooper has caught four touchdowns on eight receptions this year.
The offense received more encouraging news at tight end. Dallas Goedert participated fully in Saturday’s practice and carries no injury designation after dealing with a knee issue. Goedert caught six passes for 61 yards last Sunday.
Running back Saquon Barkley also upgraded to full practice participation on Saturday, though the Eagles listed him as questionable. Barkley has sat out the past two games with a hamstring ailment after rushing for 182 yards on 36 carries across four appearances.
Depleted Roster Seeks Rebound
Injuries have tested Philadelphia throughout the season. Starting quarterback Jalen Hurts is out for the remainder of the year after doctors discovered blood clots in his lungs, and veteran offensive tackle Lane Johnson retired. The Eagles rank 28th in scoring offense, averaging 17.7 points per game.
The defense faces its own absences for Monday. Linebacker Nolan Smith was ruled out with a concussion, and defensive back Michael Carter will miss the game with an abdominal injury. Pass rusher Jonathan Greenard did not practice Saturday because of an ankle injury and told reporters he is a “game-time decision,” ESPN reported. Linebacker Jalyx Hunt is questionable with knee and ankle injuries.
Philadelphia also listed four players on injured reserve as questionable: offensive guard Landon Dickerson, cornerback Jakorian Bennett, and tight ends Grant Calcaterra and Eli Stowers. Dickerson has been sidelined by a knee injury since Week 1 and suffered a pectoral injury during practice on Thursday, though he managed full participation Saturday alongside the other three players. The Eagles must execute roster moves before kickoff to activate any of them.
Both the Eagles and Cowboys enter the matchup with 2-4 records, tied for second place in the NFC East behind the 3-2-1 New York Giants. Kickoff at Lincoln Financial Field is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET on Monday.
