Actor and entrepreneur Andrew Shue and attorney Marilee Fiebig are engaged, Shue confirmed Wednesday, marking a new chapter years after their respective marriages ended amid nationwide media scrutiny.
Shue, 59, told People that he and Fiebig became engaged earlier this spring following roughly three years of dating. Fiebig, an immigration attorney reported as either 48 or 49 by entertainment outlets, bonded with Shue in 2023 after their former spouses entered a relationship together.
“I don’t know how it happened, but there’s a happy ending,” Shue told People, adding that their romance grew naturally out of a supportive friendship during a painful period. “This just happened to be our way of getting to know each other and being able to share ourselves with each other in a time where we both needed a friend.”
Shue explained that navigating the collapse of his prior marriage required extensive personal reflection and accountability. “I had to accept my own part in marriage not working out for me,” he told the magazine, noting that he had to learn what mattered in a partnership before finding someone compatible. “I think the magic of love is when you go from a need to giving,” he said, describing their connection as “freak luck.”
Scandal and separate paths
The couple’s relationship began in the aftermath of a November 2022 controversy, when photographs revealed that Shue’s then-wife, Amy Robach, and Fiebig’s then-husband, T.J. Holmes, were dating. At the time, Robach, now 53, and Holmes, now 49, were co-anchoring ABC’s daytime broadcast “GMA3.”
Following an internal review and heavy tabloid attention, ABC officially separated from Robach and Holmes in January 2023. Both journalists finalized divorces from their partners later that year; Shue completed his divorce in March 2023, while Fiebig finalized hers that October, according to the Daily Mail. Fiebig and Holmes share a 13-year-old daughter, Sabine.
Word that Shue, best known for his role on the 1990s drama “Melrose Place,” and Fiebig were seeing each other first surfaced in December 2023. Sources told Page Six at the time that their connection originated over shared values while coping with the sudden public dissolution of their marriages.
Former anchors wed in Arkansas
The announcement of Shue and Fiebig’s engagement arrived shortly after Robach and Holmes took their own relationship to the altar. The former morning show co-hosts quietly married in Arkansas on Sept. 19 in an intimate ceremony, according to county records obtained by People and Page Six.
A marriage license confirmed the couple applied to wed in Washington County, Arkansas, on Sept. 18 and exchanged vows the next day. The document was officially recorded on Oct. 13. Holmes was raised in Arkansas and graduated from the University of Arkansas.
Robach and Holmes previously announced their engagement on their joint podcast, “Amy & T.J.,” in October 2025. In past episodes, Holmes rejected allegations that they had engaged in extramarital infidelity, maintaining that both were already in the midst of divorce proceedings when they began dating.
Representatives for Robach and Holmes did not immediately return requests for comment regarding their former spouses’ engagement, according to reports from People and Page Six. With both couples now moving forward on parallel tracks, each pair appears focused on their private lives and future commitments.
