Kim Kardashian’s apparel and shapewear brand, SKIMS, is confronting intense customer criticism over its limited-edition holiday countdown set after viral unboxing reviews sparked widespread anger online.

The brand’s 12-day Accessories Advent Calendar sells for $148 in the U.S. and £158 in the United Kingdom, according to Fashion Times UK. While the item quickly sold out and moved to a customer waitlist, online reviews showing the contents prompted many buyers and viewers to voice frustration over the assortment of low-cost novelties inside.

Disappointment Over Calendar Contents

Rather than featuring apparel or beauty products, the countdown box focuses almost entirely on small novelty items and hair accessories, Fashion Times UK reported. Across its 12 compartments, the calendar includes:

  • A bear keychain, a comb keychain, a logo keychain and a faux-fur compact mirror keychain
  • Sets of satin scrunchies, elastic hair bands and two-packs of bra elastic headbands
  • Multiple packages of bobby pins and two hair clips
  • A branded squishy toy

The online uproar escalated following an unboxing video posted to TikTok that amassed over 45 million views, Page Six reported. In the clip, the creator grew increasingly annoyed while opening the daily boxes, remarking to the camera that the product was “way too expensive” for what was offered.

Commenters quickly echoed the frustration across social media platforms. Some critics argued the collection was worth roughly $20 rather than the $148 asking price, while others sarcastically likened the contents to items found between vehicle seats or gathered from a nightstand drawer, Page Six reported. Other dissatisfied viewers labeled the package a rip-off, with some dubbing it the “SKAM advent calendar,” according to Fashion Times UK.

Broader Holiday Market Scrutiny

Representatives for Kardashian did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Page Six regarding the criticism.

Kardashian founded SKIMS in 2019, and the label has frequently attracted online debate around its product launches. Last year, the brand drew scrutiny for its “Ultimate Bush” line of underwear featuring faux hair, Page Six noted. In 2024, Kardashian also faced public pushback after modeling a rosary while posing in swimwear for a collaborative campaign with Dolce & Gabbana.

The criticism around the SKIMS offering arrives as shoppers increasingly scrutinize celebrity-backed holiday goods. Other beauty and lifestyle retailers have also introduced 2026 holiday countdowns with varied product selections, Fashion Times UK reported, citing offerings such as Charlotte Tilbury’s £170 makeup and skincare calendar and Harrods’ 12 Days of Hair & Body collection priced at £99.

SKIMS has not publicly stated whether it plans to restock the sold-out calendar or adjust its contents for future seasonal releases.
