Actress Margaret Qualley and music producer Jack Antonoff have filed for divorce in New York after three years of marriage, according to court documents filed on Friday, Oct. 30.

Court records from Kings County Supreme Court in Brooklyn show the case, listed as Sarah Margaret Qualley v. Jack Michael Antonoff, was submitted as an uncontested joint divorce, Rolling Stone and Billboard reported. Officials processed a certificate of dissolution of marriage, though a final settlement agreement remains pending judicial review. Rolling Stone reported that the couple does not have any children. Representatives for both entertainers did not immediately return requests for comment.

A swift romance and New Jersey wedding

The filing arrives nearly four months after reports first surfaced in July that the pair had separated. While public discussion mounted over the status of their relationship during the summer, Qualley’s representative firmly rejected rumors of marital misconduct. "There are no trust issues," her representative stated to People in July. "There was no infidelity or anything outside of respect and partnership in this relationship."

The couple initially connected in 2021 after meeting at a social gathering. Antonoff recounted during an appearance on "The Howard Stern Show" that the connection was instantaneous, leading him to envision marriage right away. In May 2022, Antonoff proposed to Qualley while the two were living in Paris.

They married on Aug. 19, 2023, in Long Beach, New Jersey. The ceremony drew high-profile guests from across the entertainment industry, including Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, Cara Delevingne, Zoë Kravitz, Channing Tatum and Qualley’s mother, actress Andie MacDowell.

Creative partnerships and reflections

Throughout their relationship, the two frequently collaborated across artistic mediums. Qualley directed, choreographed and starred in the 2024 music video for "Tiny Moves," a single by Antonoff’s rock band Bleachers. Speaking to Rolling Stone that year, Qualley characterized the visual project as a creative love letter to her husband, calling him her favorite creative collaborator. She also appeared in the Bleachers video for "You and Forever" and provided vocals under the pseudonym Lace Manhattan for the soundtrack of the film "Honey Don’t!," which Antonoff scored.

Antonoff has also addressed their past romance while touring with Bleachers this autumn. During a September show in Los Angeles, when an audience member asked the band to perform the 2017 track "Let’s Get Married," Antonoff responded from the stage, "Read the news, brother," Billboard reported.

In an interview with The Guardian earlier this month, the 14-time Grammy winner acknowledged that he had initially questioned whether he should continue singing songs about Qualley live on stage following their separation. "I obviously was really worried about this specific thing, I sat long and hard with it and thought: ‘If I change the set list …’ and in my gut there was a unanimous jury that said, ‘No, this is the deal,’" Antonoff said, adding that continuing to perform the material had ultimately felt "really beautiful."

The divorce will become finalized once the supervising judge reviews and officially approves the settlement agreement filed with the Brooklyn court.
