High school football programs across several states took the field on Friday night, Oct. 30, 2026, facing season-defining tests in Week 11 action. While teams in Florida and North Carolina closed out their regular seasons with conference crowns and postseason berths on the line, schools in Ohio kicked off their state tournament runs.

Florida teams chase undefeated marks and postseason bids

In the Gainesville area, three unbeaten squads entered the final week of the Florida High School Athletic Association regular season attempting to cap flawless campaigns, The Gainesville Sun reported. Buchholz faced a demanding road contest against nationally prominent Bolles in Jacksonville, while Hawthorne hosted fellow undefeated Dunnellon.

In Lake City, Columbia welcomed rival Suwannee in the annual battle for the Old Oaken Bucket, according to The Gainesville Sun. Columbia aimed to secure its first unblemished regular season since 1997, while Suwannee took the field needing a victory to keep its postseason aspirations alive. Meanwhile, Newberry fought for playoff qualification against Madison County, and the Sunshine State Athletic Association launched postseason tournament play featuring top eight seeds Union County, Lafayette and Trenton.

Across the state in the Volusia-Flagler region, all 13 local programs played on the same evening for the final time this year, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reported. The slate featured long-standing traditional meetings, including Mainland against Seabreeze and the annual Teal Bowl between Atlantic and Pine Ridge. Spruce Creek drew a matchup against John Carroll Catholic, while DeLand looked to push its winning streak to eight straight games against Spanish River.

North Carolina crowns a conference champion

In coastal North Carolina, Week 11 marked the final games of the regular season before the state athletic association begins its postseason on Nov. 6, the Star News reported.

The headline contest took place in Wilmington, where Hoggard, entering with an 8-1 record and undefeated in league play, hosted Ashley for the Carolina Coast Conference championship. Ashley entered the matchup at 6-3 with a chance to pull off what would stand as the biggest upset in its program history, according to the Star News. Elsewhere in the area, Topsail hosted New Hanover in Hampstead as both squads sought positive momentum before tournament brackets are set.

Ohio opens postseason tournament play

While Southern programs finalized league standings, the postseason arrived in full force across Ohio under the Ohio High School Athletic Association, The Marion Star reported. Marion-area schools launched their tournament paths on Friday evening at 7 p.m.

Elgin, seeded 10th in Division VI, Region 23, traveled to face seventh-seeded Sugarcreek Garaway, according to The Marion Star. The Comets entered tournament action following a milestone regular season in which they captured their first conference championship in 21 years.

In Division V, Region 18, ninth-seeded North Union hit the road against Vermilion. In Division IV, Region 14, 11th-seeded Highland challenged sixth-seeded Bellevue, The Marion Star reported.

What comes next

For Florida schools, next week provides an official makeup window to resolve any lingering schedule adjustments before the statewide playoffs commence in two weeks, according to the Daytona Beach News-Journal. In North Carolina, teams will learn their official playoff seeds ahead of the Nov. 6 opening round, while Friday night’s winners in Ohio advance to the regional quarterfinals.
