Fans of the “Grand Theft Auto” franchise were left stunned on Thursday after an anonymous leaker published nearly 25 minutes of unauthorized gameplay footage from the upcoming title “Grand Theft Auto VI,” including extensive explicit scenes featuring the male protagonist.

The leaked recording was distributed by an individual or group using the alias Cyberleek, who previously distributed confidential clips earlier this year, according to reports from The Verge and Polygon. While earlier promotional releases offered controlled looks at the anticipated open-world game, the new material depicts co-protagonist Jason exploring the fictional state of Leonida completely unclothed for roughly 10 minutes of the runtime.

Questions Over Developer Tools and Debug Menus

The video quickly triggered intense discussion across online forums regarding whether players will actually be allowed to roam freely without clothes in the finished product. Video game publications noted several oddities in the recording that suggest the leaker may have relied on a developer build or internal debug menus rather than normal play mechanics.

According to Polygon and Mashable, non-playable characters encountered throughout the footage show no reaction to Jason’s lack of attire, responding only when the player directly confronts or antagonizes them. In addition, the player character appears to conjure a military tank out of thin air above a waterfall, an action typically restricted to internal developer commands or legacy cheat systems that developer Rockstar Games removed in prior releases.

Other elements of the footage also diverge from official previews. Recent ratings board evaluations confirmed the project includes sexual content and nudity, and a preview from IGN noted that Jason appears in a shower scene where camera angles deliberately obscure his private areas. Observers on Reddit and gaming news outlets also noted that weapon animations did not appear tailored for a nude character, further fueling theories that external modification or debug settings forced the model’s appearance.

Gameplay Features and Studio Response

Aside from the graphic character rendering, the video showed several broader aspects of gameplay. As reported by Eurogamer, segments centered on an off-road event called the Thrillbilly Mud Club, depicting dirt-bike selection and race preparation. The footage also showed vehicular customization options, including engine and transmission tuning, as well as driving and walking segments rendered in a first-person perspective.

Rockstar Games has not officially confirmed whether a first-person viewpoint will be available when the title launches, though the studio previously integrated the perspective into updated editions of “Grand Theft Auto V” and “Red Dead Redemption 2,” Mashable noted.

The leak arrives as parent company Take-Two Interactive continues aggressive efforts to halt the distribution of prerelease material. According to The Verge and Eurogamer, Take-Two has previously pursued legal subpoenas against platforms including Discord to unmask individuals behind leaks. Rockstar Games previously described the ongoing unauthorized disclosures as “heartbreaking,” lamenting that early builds were reaching the public outside of the development team’s planned reveal strategy.

The studio has previously endured severe security breaches. A massive leak in 2022 resulted in dozens of work-in-progress videos hitting the internet, culminating in the arrest and hospital sentencing of a teenage hacker. Rockstar Games is scheduled to launch “Grand Theft Auto VI” on Nov. 19 for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S consoles.
