GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Green Bay Packers unleashed an aggressive downfield aerial attack and dominated on defense Sunday, rolling to a 31-7 victory over the Chicago Bears at Lambeau Field.

Jordan Love completed 25 of 31 passes for 367 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions, guiding Green Bay (3-2) past its oldest rival. The 367 yards were the most by any quarterback against Chicago at Lambeau Field, according to SB Nation. The Packers pulled away behind a relentless deep passing game that repeatedly exploited the Bears’ secondary.

Receiving Duo Powers Explosive Offense

Christian Watson and Matthew Golden spearheaded the aerial showcase, becoming the first Green Bay duo to each record at least 120 receiving yards in the same game since 2016, Sports Illustrated reported. Watson finished with six receptions on eight targets for 143 yards and two scores. Golden hauled in six catches on seven targets for 123 yards, while tight end Tucker Kraft added a 46-yard reception.

The scoring opened on Green Bay’s initial drive when Love connected with Watson on a 42-yard touchdown pass after a breakdown in Chicago’s defensive backfield. After leading 14-7 at halftime, Green Bay extended the margin when Love delivered a 53-yard touchdown heave to Watson on third-and-22 over safety Dillon Thieneman.

“Sometimes, you just find a way,” Watson said, according to Sports Illustrated. “I was just tracking the ball. I wasn’t thinking too much. Just go get it and came down with it.”

Running back MarShawn Lloyd contributed two rushing touchdowns, the first two of his NFL career, on 10 carries for 31 yards, SB Nation reported.

Defense Dominates Shorthanded Bears

Chicago played without starting quarterback Caleb Williams, turning instead to backups Tyson Bagent and Case Keenum. The Bears managed only 246 yards of total offense, including 165 net passing yards across 44 dropbacks, according to Packers Wire. Jonathan Gannon’s defense recorded four sacks and held Chicago’s league-leading ground attack to 81 yards on 24 rushes.

The Packers also forced five turnovers without committing any, marking the 16th time in franchise history they achieved that feat and the first since 2016, according to Packers Wire. Safety Xavier McKinney led the takeaway effort with two interceptions of Bagent.

Chicago entered the contest following bold pregame talk from rookie wide receiver Luther Burden, who had publicly voiced a desire to make Green Bay quit. Linebacker Zaire Franklin answered those comments after the game.

“Talking about making somebody quit, that’s weird. We don’t do that. He quit today, by the way,” Franklin told reporters, according to EssentiallySports.

Rookie linebacker Dani Dennis-Sutton capped the defensive performance by logging a sack, two tackles for loss and two quarterback hits, SB Nation reported.

What Comes Next

The victory gave Green Bay its second consecutive win following an uneven start to the season. Chicago coach Ben Johnson lamented the coverage lapses after the game, noting that the Bears allowed four completions of at least 40 yards, according to Sports Illustrated.

The Packers remain at home in Week 6 to host the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football, while the Bears must address offensive instability and await Williams’ potential return.
