Music producer and executive Sean “Diddy” Combs was briefly removed from a federal prison in New Jersey over the weekend to undergo medical care following a head injury, according to media reports.
Combs, 56, was transported by ambulance from the low-security Federal Correctional Institution Fort Dix at roughly 1 a.m. Saturday, TMZ first reported. The founder of Bad Boy Records returned to the facility before sunrise, with sources telling outlets he remained conscious and was able to speak upon his return.
It remained unclear where Combs was taken for medical attention or precisely how he suffered the injury, though the Daily Mail reported claims that he may have fallen. A spokesperson for Combs, Juda S. Engelmayer, confirmed his team was looking into the incident.
“We are aware of the reports concerning Sean Combs and are working to confirm the circumstances. Sean’s health and well-being are our immediate concern, and we appreciate everyone who has reached out,” Engelmayer said.
Disciplinary sanctions and sentence extension
The medical trip occurred days after reports surfaced that federal authorities had extended Combs’ scheduled time in custody. Federal Bureau of Prisons records show his anticipated release date shifted from Jan. 21, 2028, to March 2028, adding roughly six weeks to his term.
According to the New York Post, prison officials sanctioned Combs for “disruptive conduct,” revoking 41 days of good conduct credit that would have otherwise counted toward an earlier release. When asked about changes to Combs’ projected departure date, the Bureau of Prisons told People that agency policy prevents personnel from discussing individual confinement conditions or sentence adjustments due to safety and privacy considerations.
The penalty followed allegations regarding Combs’ conditions behind bars. An NBC News investigation reported that four former inmates alleged Combs received special accommodations from fellow prisoners, who reportedly cleaned his living quarters, cooked meals and provided massages. Inmates also claimed Combs accessed contraband alcohol, prescription medications and an unauthorized phone used to receive explicit pictures, according to the report.
Defense response and background
Engelmayer disputed the accounts of luxury treatment behind bars, telling the Daily Mail that “there is no way we can independently verify those rumors.”
“The continued scrutiny of every mundane detail of Sean Combs’s life in prison has reached the point where the media characterizes ordinary prison life as news,” Engelmayer said in a statement. “The only real news is that Sean continues to serve his sentence within the rules, and he patiently awaits the court’s decision on his appeal.”
Federal officials reportedly placed Combs in solitary confinement while evaluating the contraband claims, TMZ reported. The music mogul previously spent time in solitary confinement following a July altercation with another inmate, according to reports.
Combs was sentenced to 50 months in prison after a federal jury convicted him in July 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. Jurors acquitted him of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges. Combs pleaded not guilty during his criminal trial and has continued to deny all allegations as his legal team pursues an appeal.
Federal prison officials have not publicly disclosed additional details regarding Combs’ medical status or whether any formal investigation into the injury is underway.
