Rockstar Games announced Thursday that French electronic music duo Justice created the original score for Grand Theft Auto VI, ending months of fan speculation as the publisher unveiled the video game’s official launch trailer.
Alongside the announcement, the duo consisting of Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay released ‘Flower in a Hurricane,’ a collaborative single featuring vocalists SZA and Tame Impala as well as Australian rock group King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard. Portions of the composition can be heard throughout the new promotional clip, Variety and Pitchfork reported.
A Star-Studded Soundtrack Rollout
The new single will appear as both an independent release and a selection on ‘Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album,’ a 34-track collection being published concurrently with the game on Nov. 19. Rockstar Games and Atlantic Records have gradually rolled out songs from the compilation, with nine tracks released so far, according to reports.
Earlier previews from the forthcoming project include collaborations and solo entries from an eclectic slate of musicians:
- Travis Scott’s ‘Rhyno,’ produced alongside Daft Punk alumnus Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo.
- ‘That’s It’ by Yung Lean, featuring Future and Metro Boomin.
- ‘Sexy Magic,’ an international collaboration combining Fred again.., PinkPantheress, Étienne de Crécy, and Argentinian duo CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso.
- Recent singles from Cardi B, Keith Richards, Fuerza Regida, Rauw Alejandro, and Morgan Wallen.
Rockstar has also highlighted its signature in-game radio format. Players cruising through the fictional state of Leonida will be able to listen to fictional broadcast stations hosted by real-world artists, including Robyn on Flash FM, Bad Bunny hosting Cocoteo FM, and Lana Del Rey guiding Back Country Radio, Pitchfork reported.
Building Upon Past Successes
Stepping into the franchise’s musical helm marks a major milestone for Justice following their 2024 full-length studio release, ‘Hyperdrama.’ That record featured the track ‘Neverender,’ another collaboration with Tame Impala that earned the duo a Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Recording in 2025.
The score duties represent a structural shift from Grand Theft Auto V in 2013, which relied on a cooperative musical team that included Tangerine Dream, Woody Jackson, the Alchemist, and Oh No, with DJ Shadow handling mixing duties, Pitchfork reported. Internet listeners began suspecting Justice’s involvement after recognizing their distinctive production aesthetic in an extended game preview released in August, Billboard reported.
Trailer Sets Tone Ahead of Release
The launch trailer unveiled Thursday offers a fresh narrative look at the long-awaited project, which has spent more than a decade in development. According to CNET, the storyline centers on an ex-army protagonist named Jason and a partner named Lucia as they embark on criminal exploits after struggling to secure legitimate work.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch worldwide on Nov. 19 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. Rockstar Games indicated that additional specifics regarding the score’s in-game implementation will emerge as the release approaches.
