Actor Keegan Allen was assaulted and robbed at gunpoint outside an upscale grocery store in West Hollywood on Thursday night, prompting a criminal investigation and a public outcry from the performer.
Allen, 37, posted graphic video footage on social media showing blood streaming down his face and left arm shortly after the confrontation outside Laurel Supply on Santa Monica Boulevard. Authorities and surveillance footage confirmed that two masked assailants confronted the actor as he loaded items into his vehicle.
Ambushed in a Grocery Parking Lot
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to the scene at approximately 9:05 p.m. Investigators reported that two adult males dressed entirely in black approached Allen in the parking area. One suspect brandished a silver handgun while the second wielded a knife, demanding the actor’s watch and bracelet.
Security video from the scene captured the suspects confronting Allen before striking him repeatedly in the head with the weapon. After seizing the actor’s watch, the pair escaped in an unidentified vehicle.
“These two dudes hit me in the head and pointed a gun at me with a knife and then took off,” Allen said in a video recorded moments after the ambush and published to his Instagram account. Visible blood covered his forehead and arm as he sought help from passersby.
First responders from the Los Angeles County Fire Department evaluated Allen at the scene for a forehead laceration, officials said. While authorities noted he was not transported by paramedics, Allen later wrote in social media replies that he sought hospital care and suspected he suffered a concussion.
Frustration Over Public Safety
In a written statement attached to the footage, Allen expressed anger over rising violence in the area and directed criticism toward local and state leadership.
“West Hollywood is not safe anymore. Robbed at gunpoint and knifepoint by two young men that threatened to KILL me over my watch and would have!”
Allen singled out California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, referencing automated license plate cameras utilized across the region. Though West Hollywood operates as an independent municipality separate from the city of Los Angeles, the neighboring jurisdictions frequently coordinate on regional policing efforts. West Hollywood officials have authorized 54 automated license plate readers and live-feed cameras, with dozens already deployed across key commercial corridors.
In response to the incident, the city of West Hollywood released a statement affirming that community concerns are taken seriously and that public safety remains the city’s foremost priority, NBC News reported.
Investigation Continues
The sheriff’s department announced that detectives are actively investigating the robbery and that extra patrols have been dispatched to monitor the surrounding commercial district.
Allen is widely known for portraying Toby Cavanaugh across seven seasons on the teen mystery drama “Pretty Little Liars” from 2010 to 2017. He later played Liam Walker on the CW series “Walker” from 2021 to 2024 and appeared in an episode of the ABC drama “The Rookie” earlier this year.
No arrests have been announced, and authorities have not yet released descriptions of the fleeing vehicle or the unidentified suspects.
