Advertising and sponsored content help fund our journalism. This policy explains how we label paid content and keep it separate from our news coverage, in line with the Federal Trade Commission’s guidance on native advertising and endorsements.

How paid content is labeled

  • Sponsored, Paid Post or Partner Content: an article paid for by a sponsor. The label appears with the headline everywhere the story is shown, and a disclosure at the top names the sponsor.
  • Promoted or From Our Partners: paid or promotional links and cards shown on our pages, such as below articles or on the homepage.
  • Advertisement: display ads, which are visually separate from our stories.

Who creates it

Sponsored articles are produced by our partner team or by the sponsor, not by the US Now newsroom. Our journalists do not write sponsored content, and sponsors never review or approve our news stories.

Links and search engines

Links in sponsored content carry the rel=”sponsored” attribute. Sponsored articles are not included in our news sitemap for search engines.

What we do not accept

We decline sponsored content and advertising that is false or misleading, makes unsupported health or financial claims, is designed to look like our news reporting without a label, or is unlawful or discriminatory. We may decline any content at our discretion.
